Te Anau Life Church is located at 6 Blatch Street. It runs off the “Milford Road” just before the river bridge and new swing bridge. We meet 10 am -12 noon, Sundays.
Life Church What, Who and When
Firstly, Te Anau Life Church is a New Life Church (protestant denominational organisation), Pastored and supervised in association with Leeston Life Churches. Fiordland New Life Church is Te Anau Life Church. Our community of Christian Bible believers was planted in the 1980s after 5 years of outreach from Orepuke New Life Church, on the South Coast of New Zealand.
Te Anau Life Church And The John Steffens Legacy
This brings us to the second point in our church story. The current Senior Pastors here are Wayne and Nicky Watson who were involved in planting this church from 1982, along with Pastors Daryl and Roberta Watson (now of Invercargill City Impact). They became our first pastors, in 1987.
The next stretch of our story involves the Steffens. When Daryl and Roberta left, Pastors John and Fiona Steffens were the locals who took on the congregation. In time, Pastors Benji and Alana Alexander worked alongside John, until 2019.
Fourth, the church building is part of John and Fiona’s legacy. John’s efforts were pivotal to the establishment of the current church building. When John and Fiona finished here they asked Pastors Wayne and Nicky, now of Leeston Life Church, to take this congregation into their pastoral supervision.
Finally, our story involves a key purpose God has for money. Members of the Leeston Life Church congregation have replaced John’s pivotal role in providing our church building.
